Sports and Enrichment at HLC

New experiences, expanding horizons and fresh opportunities!

Add something extra to your time at college.

College is not just about hard work and our aim is to help you to develop personal and social skills as well as gain self-confidence. We want you to have an enjoyable experience and offer a wide range of enrichment activities to expand your horizon.

Take advantage of the range of options on offer and add something extra to your College life. There are many different and exciting opportunities to undertake sporting activities in College. This includes; Clay Shooting which takes place at the Holme Lacy campus. A fully qualified instructor will teach you the basics, how to safely use a gun and hopefully hit a few clays! Sessions require booking and run periodically through the year.

HLC football teams are involved in the British Colleges Sports league structure and have competitive fixtures against other West Midlands colleges on a regular basis. Training takes place every Wednesday afternoon.

Alongside careers presentations, there are sessions on applying for higher education, drug and alcohol awareness, presentations by the Police force, Army, Navy and Royal Marines, plus ‘bite size’ introductions to sports and languages, fact-finding trips around the City, health advice and recreational trips including theme parks, bowling competitions, skiing and fashion shows!

Activities are student led – so be sure to tell the Youth Worker and Sports Co-ordinator (Huw Pritchard) of your ideas. Attendance at these sessions is arranged through your tutor – don’t miss out!

The College has also become a member of the 'Get Set Network', which is a London 2012 education programme. The programme recognises the College's commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic values demonstrated through its sports work with young learners.
