Chloe Edwards

Level 3 Hair Professional Apprentice

Employer: Rebel Rock Hair & Make-up, Hereford

“I have been working at Rebel Rock for just over a year, it is a fun place to work and we have a great team. I am now a full-time stylist, building up my own clientele and I am just about to complete my Hair Professional Level 3.

I work with such a great team; we are always doing something different and trying new things. I am going to a training session this week in London at ‘Not Another Salon’. It is such an inspiring place with a ‘no judgement policy’ so any hair goes, however different from the norm. As a team we always share our training and bounce ideas off each other so we can all develop. I’m always being encouraged to try new techniques and improve.

What advice would I give to future apprentices? Apprenticeships are a great option straight from school because businesses are keen to take on young stylists so they can develop them into their own way of working. Working with your own clients in a busy salon really boosts your confidence and because you work with all different people and can develop your professionalism. It is a good idea to look around the industry at the different types of salons. I would recommend looking on salon websites and their social media presence too, and then you’ll see what business suits your personality.”
