Kilmaha Forestry and Countryside Management are hiring !

A great opportunity has arisen to work for the Kilmaha Forestry and Countryside Management in Ross on wye in Herefordshire. They are looking to have an Apprentice as an Forestry Operative. 

We are pleased to offer an opportunity for an apprentice or student to work alongside our forestry team at Kilmaha Forestry and Countryside Management. Kilmaha is a small business that undertakes work in different area’s including Gloucestershire, South Wales, Herefordshire and The Marches. Kilmaha have a variety of clients in the public and private sectors such as Forestry England, the RSPB, and Pryor & Rickett Silviculture. Kilmaha fulfil contracts that require them to manage forest establishments; tree planting, ecology work, tree survey’s, tree management and removal. Kilmaha also provides maintenance which includes chemical & mechanical weeding, clearance works of a site and grounds maintenance services. 

Duties and Responsiblities: 

1. To be able to use tools such as knapsack sprayers, brushcutters ect 

2. To assit in cleaning and maintaining equipment 

3. Assist other members of the team on site

3. To be able to work well with the general public

4. Work in accordance with health and saftey legislation 

The successful applicant will begin their journey with the company by aiding the more experienced operators while gaining on-site learning as they progress. During the apprenticeship, the successful applicant will gain further experience in this line of work and start to take on more responsibilities within the company which will be agreed at the time between the successful applicant and senior staff.

Skills and experience

1. Good level of physical fitness

2. Full driving license (Preferred but not essential)

3.  Punctual, Polite and have a good work ethic

4. Vigilant of work surroundings and management skills 

Apprentices without Level 1 English and Maths will need to achieve this Level and take the test for Level 2 English and Maths.
