Apprenticeship Details

The Wags Club is a dog day care centre which has been running since 2018. The centre specialises in small and medium sized dog breeds and is a small family run business. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to join their team.

The role:

  • Working with an array of dog breeds, all with different personalities and needs
  • Dog walking
  • Dog feeding
  • Dog handling
  • A chance to spend the day looking after many dogs and developing a relationship with each, whilst simultaneously gaining knowledge into a popular animal care sector

Desired skills:

  • Able to work as part of a team

Desired qualifications:

  • GCSE Grade 3 or above in English and Maths or Level 1 Functional Skills in English and Maths

Future prospects?

  • A permanent position is likely to be offered at the end of your apprenticeship. Further qualifications can be offered. 

Reality check:

  • The job requires a lot of hard work and patience. The number of dogs you will spend the day with means there is a lot of cleaning duties for all staff members. Every day is very active with long periods on your feet.
