Forestry & Arboriculture
Forestry is the science and practice of managing forests and woodlands and covers everything from planting and managing large coniferous forests to creating and tending small broadleaved and community woodlands, raising young trees in nurseries and felling and delivering timber to wood using industries. Forestry has various objectives, from timber production, amenity, recreation, conservation and shelter for animals and crops. Forestry and Arboriculture have a lot in common, but arboriculture also has its own requirements in relation to the urban environment where the maintenance and protection of individual trees is of high importance, but timber production is not normally a main objective.
