Morgan Workman, Level 3 Electrical Apprenticeship
“When I came out of school, I was initially looking at A Levels and doing something like Sport, but after talking with my Dad he encouraged me to pursue a trade and I went down the route of studying Electrical.
I enjoyed the apprenticeship route for learning my skills, the set-up worked really well with my job, as I’d be at work Monday to Wednesday and then came into College for the end of the week. I could then apply what I’d learnt at College in work the following week. The balance was really good, and I enjoyed the time we spent in the workshop doing practical work.
The college was local to me, and that was my main reason for studying here but I’d really recommend the apprenticeship route; for me it really helped to build my confidence and the sense of accomplishment I get when I complete a task on my own is great. Now that I am qualified, I will be staying with my employer for a few years, which will build my experience and knowledge further, especially for the more business side of being an electrician. One day I hope to start up my own business, and maybe have an apprentice of my own!”
