Music Technology - Level 2

You will learn cutting-edge music production skills using industry-standard recording studios and Apple Mac suites.
Course Overview
This course gives you the opportunity to create, record and produce music at the highest level, with professional and expert guidance. You will be utilising professional hardware and software of an exceptional quality, including both analogue and digital recording/mixing facilities, as well as working with studio and live sound hardware. Learning both practical and theoretical aspects of music production, this course has been designed to provide you with a broad-based training programme, whether you are planning to enter the music business or to further your skills on our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Technology and then university-level courses.
You will also take part in a wide range of field trips. Successful completion (with at least a Merit grade) leads to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Technology where you can develop your skills with the College’s SSL (Solid State Logic) mixing desk, the only one of its kind in a further education college in the UK.

Assessment
All assessments are chosen for their industry relevance and consist of assignments, tests, projects and practical work. All full-time students are required to study maths and English at the appropriate level.
Maths and English
All students following a full-time programme of study at HLC will study English and maths as part of their studies, please refer to the Study Programmes page of this website.
Entry Requirements
- Four GCSE passes at grade 3 or above (including maths and English), or successful completion of a suitable and relevant Level 1 Qualification
- Successful interview, initial assessment and a good school reference
- You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for this subject area
