Introducing Ecology and Conservation
Course Content
If you’re interested in wildlife, love the outdoors or just want to understand more about the natural world, this is the course for you! A mainly knowledge-based course with some practical skills. By the end of the course you will have an understanding of:
- Basic ecological concepts – populations, communities, succession, food webs
- Ecological techniques – sampling, using keys and quadrats
- Ecosystem and Habitat development
- Species definition, evolution and ‘keystone’ species
- Habitat ecology and conservation
- Conservation in practice
- Environmental Issues and Concerns – species extinction, global warming
- Environmental and Social benefits of the natural world
- The course is taught at Level 2 but no formal qualification is given – tutor can provide an attendance certificate if required
