Electrical Installation - Level 1

This course includes basic knowledge and craft skills of electrical installation.
Course overview
This course is designed to give you sound knowledge and practical skills in electrical installation. You will spend one day a week in our specialist practical workshops, developing the hand skills and techniques necessary for successful progression to a relevant Level 2 course of your chosen specialism (often electrical installation). You will spend the rest of your time gaining the essential theoretical knowledge which will underpin your future career and study choices. Many electricians progress to design, consultancy, teaching and management, making the building services industry a career with a wide range of future pathways.
Qualification: EAL Level 1 Diploma in Electrical Installation (EAL is the specialist, employer-recognised awarding organisation for the engineering, manufacturing and building services, and related sectors).
Duration: One year

The Level 1 Diploma is assessed through written and practical centre-marked assignments, and online examinations.
Maths and English
All students following a full-time programme of study at HLC will study English and maths as part of their studies, please refer to the Study Programmes page of this website for more information.
Entry requirements
- GCSE Grade 2 in maths and English
- Successful interview, initial assessment and a good school reference
- You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for this subject area

Aged 16-18 years: There are no tuition or examination fees
Aged 19 or over (at the start of the course): Tuition Fee £995 | Exam Fee £150
Extra fees for all students:
Additional Course Costs: £275
Personal Equipment: You may also be expected to buy your own personal equipment such as personal protective clothing, stationary and data storage devices.
