T-Level in Engineering & Manufacturing (Design Development)
T Levels are new courses which will follow GCSEs and will be equivalent to three A Levels; they are also recognised by UCAS.

Qualification: City & Guilds Level 3 T-Level in Engineering and Manufacturing (Design & Development)
Duration: Two years

- Working within the Engineering and Manufacturing Sectors
- Engineering and manufacturing past, present, and future
- Engineering representations
- Essential mathematics for engineering and manufacturing
- Essential science for engineering and manufacturing
- Materials and their properties
- Mechanical principles
- Electrical and electronic principles
- Mechatronics
- Engineering and manufacturing control systems
- Recognised standards in engineering and manufacturing
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Health and safety principles and coverage
- Business, commercial and financial awareness
- Professional responsibilities, attitudes, and behaviours
- Stock and asset management
- Quality assurance, control and improvement
- Continuous improvement
- Project and programme management
Students will also take the following specialists units;
- Customer and client requirements
- Principles of design
- Design processes
- Design focus and application
- Communication in design
During the course you will undertake a substantial work experience placement, in addition to your college studies, to help fully prepare you for progression into skilled employment, higher level study or a Higher Apprenticeship.
Assessment
Assessments are a combination of externally set exams, synoptic exams and an employer-set project. The core units are graded overall A*–E, and the specialist units are graded overall Distinction, Merit or Pass
Entry Requirements
- Five GCSEs at grades 4 or above including maths and English
- Successful interview and initial assessment, including diagnostic tests and a good school reference
- You will need to demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm for this subject area
Progression
Study options may include:
- Level 3 or Higher Apprenticeship in Engineering
- HNC/HND in Engineering at the college
- Higher Level Study at University or a Degree Apprenticeship
Employment options may include:
- Engineering Project Manager
- Engineering Design and Manufacture
- Mechanical Engineer
- Electronics/Telecommunications Engineer
