Outdoor Adventure Students in Scotland
Students from the BSc Outdoor Adventure Leadership and Management course spent a week away in the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland. The exciting winter skills week provided students with a hands-on approach to safe travel in the mountains during winter time.
The course makes extensive use of a number of outdoor locations to deliver practical training, providing opportunities to learn new and exciting skills within various landscapes. The year three students developed valuable winter skills in the mountain range, such as ice axe and crampon use, snow craft, navigation, route finding and avalanche avoidance.
Course tutor, Lee Pritchard commented, “I am really proud of our students and how they coped with the difficult conditions. This has been an invaluable experience for them and will really stand them in good stead for their future careers in Outdoor Education.”
