Former Principal Ian Peake awarded MBE

The College's former Principal, Ian Peake was awarded an MBE for Services to Education in the Queens New Years Honours list. Ian worked at the college for 24 years, joining in September 1996, and for the last 16 years has served as the college's Principal and Chief Executive.

We spoke with Ian about being honoured in this way, and he had this to say: "I'm still in shock, it came as a complete surprise, and I don't even know who it was that put my name forward. My family and I are absolutely thrilled at this honour, but I feel I need to emphasise that running a college is very much a team effort. From the teachers and their support staff, to the finance team, admin, estates and even the cleaners. Everyone has their part to play in making the college run the way it does."

Ian retired at the end of August 2020, at the end of the 2019-2020 academic year, although is still involved with the college as an emeritus governor, which he is thrilled to continue to be part of, as the college has been such a large part of his life. Now retired, Ian is currently studying a Theology degree, alongside spending more time with his family.
